European Research and Innovation Projects
February 11 2022AgroParisTech shows its commitment to European projects by taking part in a wide variety of programs that enable us to support our research and innovation activities in association with our European and international partners.
Including our researchers in the activities conducted in the European Research Area and fostering their participation in European research and innovation projects is one of the key focus areas of AgroParisTech’s international strategy. The aim is to further the involvement of our research community in different European calls for proposals—and to increase the visibility of this involvement by ensuring that AgroParisTech or another member of the research unit coordinates the proposals.
Since 2016, the European Affairs Unit has offered support and guidance to AgroParisTech researchers in the development and implementation of their European projects at every stage of the project cycle and regardless of the European program the project belongs to. The European Affairs Unit also monitors the latest developments in European funding opportunities, which it makes available through its InfoEurope newsletter.
During the course of the 2014-2020 funding program, AgroParisTech researchers were involved in 51 research and innovation projects in response to the following calls for proposals:
-
Horizon 2020, the European Commission’s framework program for research and innovation, including the BBI (Bio-Based Industries) JTI and the SOIL EJP, both of which AgroParisTech was substantially involved in;
-
Calls funded by European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF), including Interreg, ERDF, and EAFRD projects (such as the EIP-AGRI European Innovation Partnership);
-
LIFE, Europe’s climate change mitigation and adaptation framework program;
-
Climate-KIC, which AgroParisTech has been a member of since its establishment in 2021;
-
Cross-border calls, particularly under the ERA-NET COFUND program.
For the 2021-2027 period, AgroParisTech’s aim is to increase its involvement, both quantitatively and qualitatively, in different European programs that fund research and innovation activities, and particularly Horizon Europe and its Cluster 6: “Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment.” AgroParisTech also intends to make substantial contributions to the “Soil Health and Food” mission.
AgroParisTech Innovation
The researchers from AgroParisTech Innovation, a Structure de Recherche sous Contrat (SRC) belonging to AgroParisTech, are an integral part of these project efforts, and their research and innovation projects receive the same level of support. They have been (and continue to be) involved in a number of projects—some of which they have even coordinated, such as AgriWasteValue a project led by the AgroParisTech Industrial Agro-Biotechnologies R&D Unit with funding from the Interreg North-West Europe program, and OPTICROP, a project led by the AgroParisTech farm in Grignon with funding from Climate-KIC.
