Housing benefits (allocation logement) covers part of the rent.

Since 1st July 2026, the following students are eligible for APL:

• EU/EEA/Swiss nationals;
• Recipients of means-tested grants (CROUS grants);
• Holders of an apprenticeship or vocational training contract;
• Working students in declared employment (to be verified on a case-by-case basis with the CAF);
• Refugees, stateless persons, and spouses of non-EU students.

Please note that students in paid employment who have declared themselves as ‘Étudiant’ (Student) on their CAF account rather than ‘Étudiant salarié’ (Working Student) must inform the CAF of their situation and amend their status via their personal account.

Students must notify the CAF automatically of any change in their circumstances by submitting the relevant supporting documents (e.g. payslips, employment contract, residence permit).
