
Sophie Carton appointed Deputy Director of Agricultural Affairs
June 02 2025Sophie Carton has been appointed Deputy Director of Agricultural Affairs, effective May 1, 2025. This new strategic position, reporting to the CEO of AgroParisTech, is part of the institution’s 2022–2026 Objectives and Performance Contract. AgroParisTech is thus reaffirming its strengthened commitment to agroecological transitions and training in agricultural professions.
A graduate of INA P-G (now AgroParisTech), Sophie Carton spent seventeen years at AgroParisTech Innovation, AgroParisTech’s contract research organization. She started as a research officer on the Grignon Énergie Positive program, which she later coordinated. In 2018, she became project manager at the AgroParisTech experimental farm. For several years, she has been leading applied research, demonstration, and development programs at the national and European levels, focusing on the environmental impacts of agricultural and livestock activities at the farm level. Since 2023, she has also been coordinator of the Alliance Méthanisation Agricole, a partnership between AgroParisTech, the AgroParisTech Foundation, and GRDF.
In her new role, Sophie Carton will contribute to:
- strengthening the place of agriculture in education, particularly through the reform of engineering programs and the development of specialized courses (setup, bachelor’s degree, continuing education/executive training);
- supporting applied research in collaboration with farms and industry stakeholders;
- steering the development of Farm’InnLab, a space for collaboration and experimentation for agricultural innovation hosted at the experimental farm;
- intensifying efforts to disseminate scientific and agricultural culture to society.
Her appointment reflects AgroParisTech’s desire to embody a model of teaching, research, and innovation rooted in agricultural realities, serving the transition of food, energy, and territorial systems.
