Laurent Buisson Appointed Dean and Executive Director of AgroParisTech
November 15 2021By Presidential Decree, Laurent Buisson has been appointed Dean and Executive Director of AgroParisTech. He previously served as Director of the “Centers of Excellence” program at the General Secretariat for Investment.
He took up his post at AgroParisTech on November 15, 2021, taking over for Gilles Trystram.
A graduate of the École Polytechnique (class of 1982) and the National School of Rural Engineering, Water Resources and Forestry (ENGREF – class of 1987), Laurent Buisson holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and an Accreditation to Direct Research (HDR), both earned at Joseph Fourier University in Grenoble.
He began his career at CEMAGREF (now INRAE) at Grenoble in 1990 before joining the Ministry of Research as a regional delegate for research and technology in the Alsace region in 1995. In 2000, he went to the United States for three years as a scientific attaché at the French embassy in Chicago.
From 2003 to 2008, Laurent Buisson was head of the Department of Innovation and Regional Activities at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation’s Research and Innovation Bureau. In particular, he worked on policies for supporting innovation, technology transfer, and business creation, and also monitored regional research and innovation activities.
He joined the Pierre et Marie Curie University in 2008 as Executive Vice-President for Research and Technology Transfer. In 2012, he was appointed as Vice-President for Resources before moving on to become Vice-President for Development and Economic Partnerships in 2016.
