Montpellier has a network of public transport and bike hire services. All the information you need:

Since 2023, public transport are completely free for residents of the «Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole». To do this, you need to apply for a card.
Otherwise, you have to buy e-tickets. There are several ways of doing this:
- from a QR code at each tram station and bus stop,
- at one of the 64 ticket machines located in the main tram stations,
- at one of the 100 TaM relay shops,
- a 10-trip ticket is available on Apply M’Ticket, to be activated on board.
Bus stops are optional. To stop the bus, wave to the driver and board the bus through the front door. When you want to get off, press the STOP button as soon as the vehicle leaves the stop before yours. You can only leave the bus through the rear doors.
Airport and SNCF stations
Montpellier is served by :
- Montpellier-Fréjorgues airport. Use the interactive map on the website to plan your journey to and from Montpellier airport by public transport.
- Montpellier Saint Roch SNCF station (located in the city centre). Public transport services to Saint Roch station are listed on this page.
- Montpellier Sud de France SNCF station (out of the city centre, with inconvenient connections to Montpellier). Public transport services to Sud de France station are listed on this page.
Driving in France
You can drive in France with your driving licence:
- European, subject to conditions ;
- issued by a non-European country during your studies, subject to conditions.
